ANIMONDIAL is a specialist consultancy working with travel and tourism businesses to improve animal welfare, halt biodiversity loss and ensure nature’s recovery.

Notable outputs include: the creation of NATOUR IMPACT, an online tool for businesses to identify their nature-related risks and opportunities; co-creator of an Adventure Travel Trade Association educational course on animal-based tourism; the authorship of ABTA’s Animal Welfare Guidelines and auditing support; and WTTC’s Preventing Illegal Wildlife Trade and Nature Positive Travel & Tourism reports.

Businesses work with ANIMONDIAL to navigate the complexities of animal and nature protection, evaluate and disclose their operational impacts and opportunities, and identify community-centred conservation partnerships through the Animal Protection Network.


Daniel Turner – Co-founder and Director
(BSc Hons Environmental Biology, CBiol MRSB)

Daniel is an environmental biologist with knowledge and experience in applied animal welfare science, field conservation, wildlife trade policy, environmental education and policy development.

For over 25 years, he has directed projects for international wildlife protection NGOs, influenced ground-breaking policy and delivered outcomes that have improved the protection of animals. This has included the development of guidance, educational tools and professional training to aid the global travel industry in their application of the animal welfare principles, the creation and coordination of multi-stakeholder alliances and initiatives, and the development and delivery of strategy that has influenced EU and international tourism policy. Daniel instigated and co-drafted ABTA’s Global Welfare Guidelines for Animals in Tourism (2013), has created robust animal welfare and nature positive audit criteria, and most recently, he has pioneered “Nature Positive Tourism” which is leading to significant policy change.

Helen Usher – Co-founder and Director

Helen is our social impact and communications specialist, skilled in marketing, PR, fundraising and strategic corporate partnerships between NGOs and corporates. Helen also holds a postgraduate degree with honours from the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing.

With over a decade of experience in fundraising and marketing, and as a recognised corporate partnerships consultant for national and international NGOs, Helen has driven award-winning strategic global partnerships and CSR initiatives, and worked with clients including Jaguar Land Rover, Allianz, Lush, Born Free Foundation, Mind, WWF, Cats Protection, Marie Curie, Etihad Airways, Body Shop, Hewlett Packard, Four Paws International, Thomson Airways, STA Travel, Kuoni and more.

David is a Conservation Biologist with 25 years of experience. As manager of ANIMONDIAL’s Animal Protection Network, he will no doubt ensure the initiative supports grassroots nonprofits, big and small.

Cara Oliver – Communications Manager

Cara is a skilled Marketeer with 20+ years experience. Passionate about both travel and the natural world, she spent a number of years exploring and working in Australasia including working for World Animal Protection in Sydney. She is passionate about finding ways we can communicate the urgent need to act now and will be a huge asset to our messaging to Build Back Better!
