Daniel Turner – Co-founder and Director
(BSc Hons Environmental Biology, CBiol MRSB)
Daniel is an environmental biologist with knowledge and experience in applied animal welfare science, field conservation, wildlife trade policy, environmental education and policy development.
For over 20 years, he has directed projects for international wildlife protection NGOs, influenced ground-breaking policy and delivered outcomes that have improved the protection of animals. This has included the development of guidance, educational tools and training to aid the global travel industry in their application of animal welfare principles, the creation and coordination of multi-stakeholder alliances, and the development and delivery of strategy that has influenced EU policy. Daniel co-drafted ABTA’s Global Welfare Guidelines for Animals in Tourism (2013), has created robust animal welfare audit criteria, and over the last decade, his advice to the travel industry and national governments has resulted in significant policy change.
‘I’ve worked with Daniel for 10 years. Daniel is widely regarded as one of the leading figures in the animal welfare movement, in particular for his engagement and work with the tourism industry. He is vastly knowledgeable and experienced in the issues and in how to engage business to solve them. I have no hesitation in recommending him highly to any tourism businesses looking for support in this area.’ – Justin Francis, Founder and CEO, Responsible Travel
