Who are ANIMONDIAL?

ANIMONDIAL is a specialist consultancy working exclusively in the travel and tourism sector to develop policy and support businesses to improve animal protection, halt biodiversity loss and ensure nature’s recovery. Utilising decades of experience and broad-based collaborations, ANIMONDIAL has been, and continues to be, at the forefront of animal and nature protection in tourism – ensuring tourism is part of the solution. 

How does ANIMONDIAL work with the tourism industry?

We work with travel and tourism businesses, industry trade associations, and animal and nature protection organisations to establish guidelines, integrate animal and nature safeguards and guide the sector towards a nature-positive future. Our services include training programmes, policy development, impact assessment and strategy delivery. We also support the the Nature Positive Tourism Partnership and the sector-wide adaptation to a Nature Positive Tourism approach by 2030.

  • NATOUR IMPACT Assessment Tool: The only online tool developed specifically to support travel & tourism businesses confidently manage their dependencies and impacts on nature. It helps businesses identify their unique nature-based targets, manage risk in their supply chain, and fulfil their reporting requirements in line with CSRD (EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and TNFD Recommendations (Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosure).
  • Campaign Support: We assist in the development and execution of campaigns aimed at promoting animal welfare and environmental sustainability.
  • Partnership Building: We facilitate collaborations between businesses, conservation organisations, and other stakeholders to drive positive change for animals and nature in global tourism.

Can you explain what you mean by terms like ‘animal welfare’ and ‘Nature Positive Tourism’, and why these things matter?

What is the Nature Positive Tourism Partnership?

The Nature Positive Tourism Partnership is a collaborative effort between the World Travel & Tourism Council, UN Tourism and the World Sustainable Hospitality Alliance. It aspires to a future in which the industry has adopted a Nature Positive approach by 2030: integrating biodiversity safeguards and reducing impacts throughout operations and value chains while also undertaking actions to protect and restore nature. The joint publication Nature Positive Travel & Tourism In Action provides an introduction to the initiative and shares valuable insights on initiating and sustaining meaningful change.

Do you work with other partners and Travel Trade Associations?

Yes! Collaboration is key to our success, and as such we work with a range of expert partners that complement our work and provide additional services. Examples include carbon measurement and reduction, biodiversity measurement and monitoring, biodiversity partnerships, community engagement, supplier auditing and single-use plastics reduction. We also work with travel trade associations to support their membership to meet sector policy and access resources, such as education materials, trainings, and webinars, as well as involvement in public appearances.

How does ANIMONDIAL make a positive contribution to animal welfare, biodiversity protection and local communities?

Our Animal Protection Network is a portfolio of authentic and impactful projects around the world which we promote, advise and assist with in-kind support. Members include rescue centres, research groups, field conservation projects and biodiversity restoration initiatives, all of which support (and some of which are deeply embedded in) local communities. As well as connecting APN Members with business partners we introduce them to funding opportunities raise awareness of their activities and provide pro bono consultancy.

I am a small business. How can I afford your services?

Recognising that smaller businesses may not have the budget for consultancy support, ANIMONDIAL adjusts its services costs to the size and capacity of the business. This ensures all businesses can access ANIMONDIAL’s expert services. We tailor our services and support to fit your specific needs and budget.
