ANIMONDIAL was established to realise the ambitions of its founders: to identify solutions to the reccurring problems facing ‘animals of the world’ caused by tourism and deliver meaningful change.
Recognising that animal welfare is part of a wider sustainable tourism agenda, ANIMONDIAL also works with like-minded experts to deliver unparalleled services that cover all relevant sustainability topics.
Daniel Turner – Co-founder and Director
(BSc Hons Environmental Biology, CBiol MRSB)
Daniel is an environmental biologist with knowledge and experience in animal welfare science, ecology, environmental education, field conservation and wildlife trade regulation.
Between 2000 and 2017 he directed projects for the international wildlife protection NGO, the Born Free Foundation, and influenced international policy improving the welfare and protection of animals. This included the development of guidance and educational tools to aid the global travel industry, the creation and coordination of international multi-stakeholder alliances and the development and delivery of strategy that influenced EU animal protection policy. Daniel co-drafted ABTA’s Global Welfare Guidelines for Animals in Tourism, the only such guidance, and over the last decade, his advice to the travel industry has resulted in significant policy change in many travel businesses and travel trade associations.
‘I’ve worked with Daniel for 10 years. Daniel is widely regarded as one of the leading figures in the animal welfare movement, in particular for his engagement and work with the tourism industry. He is vastly knowledgeable and experienced in the issues and in how to engage business to solve them. I have no hesitation in recommending him highly to any tourism businesses looking for support in this area.’ – Justin Francis, Founder and CEO, Responsible Travel
